Family Founded, Owned, and Operated
As with many small businesses, we started out of our garage. Over 20 years ago we were painting window splashes (mainly for car lots), carved oak signs, and puzzles being sold at Denio’s and craft fairs around the area. In early 1997 we opened the Uptown Signs & Graphics storefront on High Street in Auburn, CA.
Jerry Kopp, founder of Uptown Signs, previously sold automobiles. Signs went hand-in-hand with some of the needs in the car industry, and Jerry did artwork as a hobby, so he thought why not try to make a living out of it?. After many harsh years in the car business Jerry gave it up and started Uptown Signs. Now mostly retired, Jerry continues to do artwork on the side, displaying some of it in the shop.
The People of Uptown Signs & Graphics
Aaron Kopp, Jerry’s son, has been involved in the business since the beginning, focusing mostly on graphic design and sign production. He now manages the business. Jerry’s wife Sandy and daughter Rachel are also involved and help out with business operations.
